Teacher Goals.

Where are you going? Where did you come from?

Dream it.

I was thinking of goals I could set for myself with specific intentions in mind. The one above I created after taking a class on LGBTQ2SI+ inclusionary practises in the classroom.

I’m still constantly thinking how to make lessons inclusive, not just for student who identify as a part of the BIPOC community, but also for those who identify as a part of the BIPOC community as well as the LGBTQ2SI+ community because there is much overlap. And of course all those who are in between these two groups on both ends.

Q: Can you dream it?

Build it.

This led me to think, what could that look like in a school setting that truly embodied my personal development goals? And not just for BIPOC and LGBTQ2SI students, but for all students: the economically disenfranchised, the ones who are doing fine…I mean every student in the building regardless of who they were. How could we educators in this imaginary school of mine allow for true accountability, accessibility, engagement and community formed of perseverance and resilience? Guided by compassion, empathy and innovation?

What would this look like?

What would be the first building block?

Q: Can you build it?
